Dan Kimes, LCSW-C
Dan Kimes is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Dan uses a variety of therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, emotionally-focused, attachment, and Gestalt therapies, as well as awareness meditation in his work with individuals and couples.
Dan has worked successfully in private and community mental health settings with clients having depression, anxiety, loss or grief, trauma, and anger issues. He works well with clients who would benefit from working with a mature male psychotherapist who understands the "professional mind", issues with relationships, and difficulties in developing and maintaining a rich, meaningful, energetic, and joyful life.

Elissa and Dan both have extensive experience helping couples identify the dysfunctional and destructive cycles they find themselves in so that the couple can change their way of relating and strengthen their communication and loving connection.
Both Elissa and Dan also have previous backgrounds working as scientists for many years at NASA (advanced degrees in physical and biological sciences). They have a deep understanding of the "professional mind" and the issues facing the work and personal lives of professionals. With their experience, Dan and Elissa are able to to understand and support this unique group of people with compassion and awareness.
Our practice is LGBTQIA+ friendly and supports the Black Lives Matter movement.
Elissa Levine, LCSW-C, LICSW, LCSW
Elissa Levine is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work. In her work, she uses Experiential Therapy, Parts Work, Emotional Focused and Encounter Therapy for Couples, Gestalt Psychotherapy, Awareness meditation, Integral Somatic Psychology, Relational and Transpersonal Therapy, Expressive modalities, and Trauma Focused Cognitive therapy. She is also trainied in Ketamine Assisted Therapy and Psychedelic Integration.
Elissa is also certified as a Supervisor for advanced social work and professional counselor licensure in the State of Maryland and Washington, DC.
Elissa has worked successfully with clients with PTSD, OCD, depression, anxiety, and other disorders that often begin as a result of childhood trauma including sexual abuse and family violence. In her work as the Program Manager for Counseling at House of Ruth Maryland's Prince Georges County office, she gained expertise in working with victims of domestic violence including helping them to heal from abuse, become empowered, and develop healthy relationships.
A Secure Base Psychotherapy is conveniently located off Norbeck Road (Route 28) in the northern part of Silver Spring. The location is in a tranquil setting surrounded by trees and nature.
